FAQ

What is this? How do I solve these puzzles?

This is a puzzlehunt! In short, a puzzle in a puzzlehunt will give you some information, and your goal is to extract an answer (in the case of these puzzles, an English word or phrase) out of it. Other than that, the only real commonality is that the puzzles usually don’t have any direct instructions – it’s up to you to figure out what to do. You can read a more detailed explanation of puzzlehunts here.

If you’re new to puzzlehunts and would like to see some examples, we recommend looking at Galactic Puzzle Hunt, Teammate Hunt, or the recently released Island Puzzle Hunt.

Who is running this hunt?

That’s us! Vehemence is a group of friends who all happen to love puzzle hunting and we are very happy we found each other.

Though we started off as (and still are) an ARG Discord server, we’ve been hunting together for a few years now. This is our first public puzzlehunt, and we are so excited to share it with you!

What are all these script-looking sections at the tops of puzzles?

Oh, you mean the ones that look like this?

Lights up on an example.

EXAMPLE CHARACTER ONE
Woah! We’re in an example!

EXAMPLE CHARACTER TWO
Huh. Does that mean we’re not real?

EXAMPLE CHARACTER ONE
It’s... probably best not to dwell on that.

These are fun little story sections, meant to give you info about when and where this puzzle is happening and immerse you in the story. A puzzle’s “script” section contains no clues for said puzzle, and will not be necessary to solve said puzzle.

How long and difficult is this hunt?

The hunt will consist of ten puzzles and a metapuzzle – a short and sweet mini-hunt! Difficulty-per-puzzle varies and is hard to nail down, but we’re aiming for something not unlike Huntinality 3.0 or the third round of this year’s Grand Hunt Digital.

How accessible is this hunt?

This hunt contains puzzles involving audio, colors, and images, though in most cases accessible alternatives are provided. If you encounter an accessibility issue not addressed by these alternatives, please email us at team@vehemhunt.com and we’ll do our best to assist you!

What am I supposed to listen to while solving?!? I need my tunes!

We’ve got you covered. Check out this playlist put together by our team! It’s a collection of our favorite musical theater songs. It isn’t a puzzle and has no puzzle content, but it IS fun!

What happens when the hunt ends?

When the hunt ends on , the scoreboard will be frozen and solutions for all the puzzles will be released, and we will prepare a wrap-up to be available soon after. However, if you have not finished and still want to experience the whole hunt, you’ll still be able to register new teams, submit answers on the website, and progress through the hunt until . The only difference is that you won’t be able to use Cue Cards (hints) after the hunt ends.

I think there’s a problem with this puzzle!

Please email us at team@vehemhunt.com and describe the problem, and we’ll try our best to fix it.

I’m stuck on a puzzle! What should I do?

Here are some general puzzle tips that might be useful:

Remember, if you have Cue Cards available, you can use them for hints as well.

Are there any prizes?

The winning team will get season tickets to the Vehemence Theater Company’s 2025-2026 season! This would be an incredible prize if the Vehemence Theater Company existed, but alas, they do not. So... I guess you’ll just have to settle for bragging rights.

I have a question not on the list!

Email us at team@vehemhunt.com and we’ll get back to you!
